Experience the thrill of abseiling on a half day guided session designed for beginners and adventurous participants. The session begins with a safety briefing and equipment fitting, including a climbing harness and helmet. Under the guidance of a professional instructor, you will learn the technique for controlling your own descent while being securely attached to a safety rope. The adrenaline filled experience allows you to lean back over the cliff edge and descend at your own pace, with instructors providing encouragement and support every step of the way. The abseil gives a unique combination of excitement and confidence building, making it an unforgettable outdoor adventure for all participants.
The venue for adult groups and adventurous children is Split Rock near Wookey Hole, where cliffs are vertical and up to 25 metres high, offering long abseils and opportunities for a ‘bouncing’ descent. For younger or more nervous participants, gentler abseiling routes are available at Burrington Combe, featuring inclined slabs up to 15 metres high. Group sizes are usually limited to nine participants per instructor, though additional instructors can accommodate larger groups. Children under twelve may find the taller cliffs intimidating, so climbing may be recommended instead to ensure every participant achieves success. Sessions run for three hours in the morning or afternoon, with evening sessions available in summer months. This half day abseiling experience provides a safe, guided, and exhilarating opportunity to try abseiling while enjoying the natural beauty of the area.

An amazing experience from start to finish. The lads eased the nerves with all the jokes and banter before sending us over the edge. They were so patient with us all. Would definitely go again. Thanks so much. Also, any queries and emails answered in a timely and professional manner. Would 100% recommend

The Bushcraft Course run by Adventure.ie was absolutely brilliant! I learned so much throughout the experience and had a huge amount of fun along the way. Tom and Rhys were amazing instructors – knowledgeable, friendly, and really passionate about what they do. They made everyone feel comfortable and involved, no matter their skill level. I’d highly recommend this course to absolutely anyone – whether you’re a complete beginner or just looking to sharpen your outdoor skills. It’s a great mix of learning, teamwork, and adventure. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thanks Guys!

Mayo Cancer Support Association worked with Adventure.ie to stage a fundraising abseil challenge in Croke Park in October 2025. From start to finish, Adventure.ie, were an absolute pleasure to work with. We experienced nothing but 100% professionalism and efficiency from Ronan, Lisa and all the team at every encounter. On the day of the abseil challenge the Adventure.ie team really added to the magic of the experience, reassuring and motivating our abseilers, assisting them every step of the way and helping us all to celebrate smashing the pre-existing fundraising record for an abseil challenge in Croke Park. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Adventure.ie team and the Croke Park abseil experience to anyone.

Had the best experience with Tom at the end of September for the Bushcraft Skills course. Only three of us showed up, making the experience intimate and personal. Tom is enthusiastic and the epitome of the call of the wild. The weather was AWFUL, the nonstop rain poured at an immense rate but Tom's gregarious attitude kept out spirits up and influenced our determination to see the day through. It actually was a matter of survival, there was something cathartic about our tasks, trails and tribulations in the torrential downpour. The impossiblity of finding dry kindling turned into a determined challenge, regardless of the outcome. The joy of Tom finding and chopping down dead wood and each of sawing out a log was a massive dopamine hit. Rain water coffee never tasted so good!

Had a great rock climbing experience at Dalkey Quarry with Ronan. Got to abseil down and then tried several different routes up to test our skills. Our small group had a blast, thanks Ronan!!
