Barcelona Launches Unique Submarine-Aged Wine and Sailing Experience

Barcelona is offering a distinctive maritime experience that combines Mediterranean sailing with an innovative submarine wine tasting journey. The two-hour excursion takes guests along the city’s coastline, presenting panoramic views of iconic landmarks including Montjuïc, the Sagrada Família, Hotel W, the Columbus Monument, and Barceloneta Beach, while introducing an unconventional approach to gourmet wine appreciation.

A highlight of the experience is the tasting of four carefully selected wines, including two varieties from a traditional winery in the Priorat region and the same wines after undergoing underwater aging in the waters of the Costa Brava. This unique maturation process is said to enhance the wines’ complexity and depth of flavor, offering participants a rare opportunity to compare land-aged and sea-aged vintages side by side.

Departing from Marina Vela, guests receive a safety briefing before setting sail past Port Vell, luxury yachts, and historic maritime sites. The intimate setting, limited to just ten participants, is guided by a professional expert who shares insights into the winery’s history, production methods, and the environmental benefits of underwater aging, including its contribution to marine biodiversity.
