Hike and Kayak Combo

This full day adventure is perfect for those seeking an active and immersive experience in the natural landscapes of Pohatu. The day begins with pickup in Akaroa, followed by a scenic transfer by four wheel drive minivan to the start of a private hiking trail. Equipped with a map and clear instructions, you will enjoy a relaxed to regular pace hike along part of the renowned Banks Track, winding through ancient red beech forest and lush tree ferns. Along the way, you will encounter cascading waterfalls, hear the songs of native birds, and explore the prehistoric forest of Tutakakahikura Scenic Reserve, where some trees are more than four centuries old, before descending into the beautiful setting of Pohatu Bay.

Upon arrival at Pohatu Bay, there is time to rest and recharge with access to a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom facilities. This break allows you to relax, enjoy a meal, and prepare for the afternoon sea kayaking safari.
