Purple Island Mangroves Kayaking Delivers a Serene Eco Experience in Qatar

The Purple Island Mangroves Kayaking tour takes place near Al Thakira, close to the coastal area of Purple Island, offering visitors a calm and immersive journey through one of the region’s most distinctive natural ecosystems. Just a short drive from the city, the experience provides a peaceful contrast to urban life, where still waters and dense mangrove channels create a sheltered and tranquil setting.

Paddlers move through winding waterways where reflections of sky and greenery ripple gently across the surface. This guided 90-minute experience is designed at an easy, unhurried pace, allowing participants to focus on the surroundings while navigating through the natural corridors of the mangrove forest.

The habitat supports a rich variety of wildlife, including herons, fish, crabs, and other coastal species that thrive in this protected environment. As kayakers glide through the channels, these encounters offer quiet, memorable moments that highlight the ecological importance of Qatar’s mangrove ecosystem.

With safety equipment, high-quality kayaks, and professional guidance provided, the tour remains accessible to both beginners and experienced paddlers. Designed as a low-impact eco activity, it offers families, couples, and solo travellers a meaningful way to connect with nature and experience Qatar’s coastal biodiversity in a calm and immersive setting.

This hop-on hop-off bus service around Madinah is highly recommended. It is worth planning your time well so you can pray at the mosques and also enjoy the city streets at night while sitting on the open top deck. We got off at Quba Mosque in the early evening when the sky was cooler, and tried food and drinks at the nearby cafés; the view, with decorative fire lights, was truly stunning. We purchased the tickets at a special price after enquiring at the counter the night before using the service the following afternoon. The service was good, although it was a pity that despite the bus offering free Wi-Fi, no password was provided. Overall, the price is good value for spending a full day exploring the city at a relaxed pace. The buses arrive at each stop approximately every 30 minutes.

The trip is good, the idea of hop on & off is excellent, but you need to have an App that we can track the bus location with GPS to save our time & manage our visits .. i get off the bus at 2 stations, and every time i need to get back to the bus i waited the whole 30 min at the station .. if i can see the bus location & know its ETA i could spend this time at my visit location & show up 5 min before bus arrival instead of waisting an hour standing in the streets afraid of missing the next bus .. pluse the bus waits too much time at Al Ghamama mosque for now reason & loops in some crowded streets twice with no touristic reason too .. some stations are closed or cancelled like the Trinch location or Hegaz rail station you just hear the story .. worth to hop off at Uhod & Quba mosque & Quiblatine mosque only

Everything is good except for the time you have to wait for next bus to come to the station. Half of my time got wasted on bus stands which makes spending money on this service a bad deal. I could have taken taxis everywhere with less money and better experience. I remember two years ago the waiting times were not so bad. The company needs to hire more buses.
