We attended the Christmas Eve vigil at 11 PM in the Trinity Basilica, and what an unforgettable experience it was. The mass was well-organized, punctual, and delivered in a swift, crisp manner in Portuguese. Since it was midnight, the sanctuary was closed, but the Chapel of Apparitions was open, allowing visitors to pay their respects. This is where the original oak tree once stood, now replaced by the Fatima statue. The next morning, we visited the sanctuary where the three children are buried, surrounded by a calm and prayerful atmosphere. The Trinity Basilica itself is an architectural marvel—vast, round, and almost playground-like in its grandeur. The grounds are impeccably maintained and even host a restaurant nearby, adding to the sense of serenity and reverence.
Visiting Fátima Sanctuary was one of the most spiritual and moving experiences of our entire Portugal trip. The moment you arrive, you can truly feel the blessings, the peace, and the deep religious significance of this holy place. It’s a destination that touches your heart in a way that’s hard to put into words. We booked our tour through Cooltours on Viator, and it was absolutely the best decision. One of the highlights of the tour was visiting the humble village of Aljustrel, where the three shepherd children lived: Lucia dos Santos, and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto. Their homes are beautifully preserved, offering a glimpse into their simple life before the apparitions. It’s a powerful and touching part of the journey. A helpful tip for travelers: There are no souvenirs or religious items sold inside the Fátima shrine itself, except candles. If you want to take home rosaries, candles, or special remembrance pieces, the village is the best place to buy them. Not only will you find beautiful items, but you’ll also be supporting the local families and community who maintain the area with so much love. If you’re planning a trip to Portugal, make sure Fátima Sanctuary is on your list—and go with a guide if you can. It’s an experience filled with faith, history, and an overwhelming sense of peace.

A beautiful site for Pilgrimage just like in our Lady Lourdes Basilica in France, this place also have k own miracles and messages of Mother Mary to the world. The call to pray the rosary to save souls in Purgatory. The call to repent from sins. The call to pray always. Surely an experience I will forever remember being in this Holy Place.
