Book tickets in advance and preferably from apps like GetYourGuide. It significantly reduced my waiting time! I barely needed to stand in Corridor/Line 3 for 15 mins before being let in. Whereas those who booked online on their website were standing in a very long queue and no clue when they were let in. Do not rush to the Sistine Chapel and Raphael’s rooms because everything before that is a masterpiece in itself. Once you enter the museums you have a choice to either directly go to the Sistine Chapel or go through all the museums present. It takes 1h35mins of continuous brisk walking without taking a lot of pictures. There are many people on guided tours inside that you’ll encounter on your way. There are designated places to sit and rest for some time. The walk ends 5-10 mins after you come out of the Sistine Chapel. Photos are prohibited inside the chapel. There are washrooms near entry and exit points. They also have many gift shops from where you can purchase magnets, post cards, books etc. It’s best to reserve half a day for the Vatican museums.

Don’t get me wrong, the museum is a 10/10. Considering this year’s jubilee, thou, there is a pre-established routing in place; which is great for tourists with little time, but makes it difficult to “savor” most spaces and art pieces before the Sistine Chapel (which is almost at the end of the path). The waiting time, with reservation was still considerable, so I recommend arriving a little earlier.

Absolutely incredible, this was definitely the highlight of my trip to Rome. The most beautiful corridor to walk through to the Sistine Chapel, exquisite. It's a long walk and be mindful about going around in circles as it's easy to if you don't take note of the signs.

I’m not usually a museum person, but I decided to visit this one, and I’m really glad I did. The art and artifacts on display are truly impressive. The museum is quite large, and you can easily spend a few hours exploring every nook and corner of this vast place. I especially loved the artwork and intricate designs on the walls, ceilings, and floors. It was a truly memorable experience!

Book your tickets ahead of time. When you show up for your scheduled time, there will be a very long line to get in, however it moves quickly. Once inside, it takes about 2.5 hours to walk through the museum to get to the Sistine Chapel. The art is amazing, easily some of the most beautiful and opulent museums I’ve ever seen. As always, it will be very crowded with huge tour groups blocking a lot of the art. If you are someone that loves art, consider getting an audio guide or doing a tour. If you like to look at art but don’t need to hear the stories and history behind it, walking around self-guided is more than enough. You will need to adhere to the dress code for the Sistine Chapel so be mindful of that before coming. You are not allowed to take photos or videos inside of the Sistine Chapel, nor are you allowed to talk. Sadly, as there is a large crowd gathered in the center of the chapel, a lot of tourists do not respect these rules. Again, it will take about 2.5 hours to get to the Sistine Chapel because you have to walk through the museums before you make your way there. It looked like some of the tour groups were able to take shortcuts. Overall, we spent about 3 hours here.
