Join us on an unforgettable hiking adventure to the summit of Carrauntoohil, Ireland’s highest peak. Rising 1,040 meters above the Killarney landscape, this striking pyramid-shaped mountain commands breathtaking views of the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks. As you ascend, marvel at the rugged beauty of steep gullies, glacially sculpted lakes, and dramatic knife-edge ridges, all shaped by the forces of nature over thousands of years. This challenging yet rewarding trek offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the raw and untamed wilderness of Kerry.
Carrauntoohil is a formidable peak and should only be attempted by experienced hikers familiar with steep, uneven terrain and scrambling techniques. The ascent requires a high level of fitness and proper preparation, as conditions can change rapidly in the mountains. Walkers are strongly advised to wear appropriate hiking gear, including sturdy footwear, layered clothing, and rain protection. Please refer to the ‘What to Bring’ guide to ensure a safe and enjoyable climb to the top of Ireland.

It's a steep climb to the top, but it's worth it. It's not very crowded and has a great panoramic view... you have to go up, I highly recommend it.

Such a beautiful hike. I'm from Bavaria but still I must say, this is something totally special. Pure magic!

Amazing hike!! Not a frequent hiker but it took 3 hours to reach the summit and 3 hours back down. Can be very foggy/misty in the last stretch after Devil’s ladder so be sure to stay on track. The view’s are incredible and well worth the climb. Would recommend going down the zigzag path and not back down the rocky ladder. Nice cafe at the bottom with hot apple pie was a lovely treat :)

Incredible. Cronins yard is the perfect spot for grub before or after the hike. It has showers, toilets, a cafe where you can get food and drink such as beer, a little souvenir shop and parking is only €2.

It was my first time reaching the summit. Wasn't an easy one, took me more than 3 hours, but I've got no regrets, the views and the place itself was brilliant. Definitely recommend!
