Visit a traditional working Connemara mountain sheep farm and experience authentic Irish farm life on a privately guided tour. Meet Tom, the farmer, and explore a farm that has been in the same family for generations, with around 200 ewes and lambs grazing freely in the mountains above Killary Fjord. On arrival, you’ll be outfitted with outdoor gear, including footwear and rainwear provided by the farm.
The tour begins with an impressive sheepdog demonstration, where you’ll see these smart, highly trained dogs in action. In the summer months, Tom showcases the traditional art of sheep shearing with hand shears, a rare and fascinating sight. The tour also includes a scenic walk through the farm, offering breathtaking views of Killary Fjord and the surrounding mountains.
You’ll have the chance to try your hand at bog-cutting with a slean, an ancient method of harvesting peat. The farm experience includes an opportunity to bottle-feed lambs when they’re around, and you’re invited to lend a hand. This immersive experience offers a deep connection with both the land and its traditions.
It is advisable to bring appropriate warm, rain and windproof gear as weather can very changeable. Sunglasses, water/refreshments, camera and sun block.

This is an eye opener in Eco and Agri Tourism as we witnessed how they harvest Peat land and how they contribute to the entire Eco system with dedicated hard work. We met Jim, son and daughter, Mr An Neantog and his loyal sheep dog Jane, but the co- owner Jim's wife Catherine was away in Shanghai whom an Eco/ Agri Tourism Award recipient. Had lunch, freshly baked scones and their own Irish Coffee with whiskey and cream served by wonderful, friendly staff with a smile on face always. How Mr An Neantog harvesting the peat was amazing with careful consideration of the future generations. His loyal sheep dog Jane is always by his side for the command. We were very fortunate with the weather to see how Jane was rounding up sheep and keep them on their toes for Jane's next reaction. This is a huge 1600-acre farm plus another over 5000-acre common land adjoining the farm. We respect their dedication towards our Nature and Eco Habitat.

This was my favorite experience in Ireland. The farm was so warm & inviting. We enjoyed a wonderfully informative & entertaining sheep dog herding demonstration, got lots of pets in w/ the pups when they weren't working and enjoyed a delicious intimate dinner in a beautiful candle lit setting w/ live music. I would go out of my way to come back here again.

Awesome border collie (Janice) working the ram sheep...fun to watch what she can do with whistle commands. Gift shop had good variety of items and they shared sips of irish cream liquor. Very generous and welcoming on all fronts.

Awesome experience. The family and Michael were so hospitable. Great demonstrations. Truly enjoyed the coffee and scones. Their own Irish Creme is the best I have ever tasted. Wish we could buy it in the US.

Beautiful spot to stop in at, great food and the best scones. The family/staff are all so very sweet and welcoming! The sheep dog demonstration is captivating and such a unique thing to experience.
