For Aquila Safari, you need to travel for about 3 hours from Cape Town to reach this place. The travel itself is nice with nice scenic views. We booked the early morning slot to visit the place. On reaching the place, you are taken to their breakfast place. Breakfast/Lunch is included in their package, as per the time slot. Dinning hall is quite spacious with multiple sitting areas offering outside view of Safari area through big windows. Surrounding garden is good. Breakfast itself was fine, having some reasonable variety. After breakfast we were taken to the open air jeep like vehicles which were there to take us to the Safari. Aa you are traveling in an open air vehicle, you need to take quite warm clothes, covering your head as well, as it was quite cold outside in the month of October. We proceeded to the Safari. Safari itself was below my expectations. Fewer animals and not so much variety. There was a loin enclosure, segregated from rest of the Safari. After long search we were able to spot 1 loin and 2 lioness very far on top of the cliff. It took around 2.5 hours inside the Safari itself. Nice experience if you have a spare day at Cape Town, as this is a whole day activity.

I wish there was an option for a no star or less. I am utterly disappointed in Aquila and their service. Based on my experience, I would suggest that you are cautious about booking in advance with them. We booked in April for accommodation in December and paid in full - I even had a message with the resort regarding our preference. We flew from Australia and drove hours to get to the resort, which was meant to be the highlight of our trip to celebrate our anniversary. We were so excited about the experience. To our dismay, we arrived, we checked in, signed their papers, only to be told that they did not have a room for us, they overbooked due to a change of system about 2 weeks ago. We received no prior message, no email, no attempt to notify us, no earlier communication! The general manager was not on duty, we dealt with Mackenzie who was not helpful at all in my opinion. They could not process a refund. We have to wait for their reservation manager who doesn’t seem to work on weekends.

I joined this private safari recently and overall it felt like one of the safer safari options in South Africa. The vehicle is a large, enclosed truck that seats around 10–20 people, with protective railings around the sides. Because of the size of the vehicle, being close to lions or elephants feels much safer, as the animals perceive the truck as a big “object” rather than individual humans. Compared to other safaris my friends have done, this one is definitely on the safer and less intense side. Some of my friends went on smaller open-air vehicles without railings, where they saw lions hunting or resting right next to the car, which created a much more thrilling, adrenaline-filled experience. Here, we saw only one male lion and three lionesses, all of them resting, so the overall feeling was calm and not very dramatic. The experience felt more like visiting a large, well-managed park rather than a wild, high-intensity safari. If you’re looking for a very safe and relaxed safari experience, this is a good option. But if you’re hoping for something more intense or exciting, other safaris might offer a wilder encounter.

L "Wilderness at its best! This private safari spans across 20,000 acres, home to a diverse array of African animals, with lions making a thrilling 70% appearance. Get up close and personal with the wildlife as they roam freely near your vehicle - no need to be afraid! Perfect for families and adventure-seekers alike. The welcoming package includes wine and delicious food, making for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!"

Aquila Safari was such a great experience! We did the morning slot, and it was absolutely amazing. The breakfast buffet was stunning, and the playground for kids is the best. Highly recommend for families! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
