We will meet at the appointed time at the Independence Gate of Retiro Park, located opposite the iconic Puerta de Alcala, to begin a guided tour of one of Madrid’s most famous green spaces. The tour starts with a stroll to the Retiro pond, overlooked by the monument to Alfonso XII. Here, the guide will share stories about the park’s history, including the pastimes of King Philip IV, who ordered the construction of the pond in what was then known as the Buen Retiro. Visitors will learn about the origins and development of the park while enjoying its beautiful scenery and tranquil atmosphere.

The tour continues with a visit to the exterior of the two palaces located within Retiro Park, the Velázquez Palace and the famous Crystal Palace, originally designed as a greenhouse. The guided walk concludes at the Parterre, one of the most popular spots in the park, where visitors can admire the perfectly aligned paths, trimmed hedges, and cypress trees sculpted into whimsical shapes. After approximately one and a half hours, the tour ends next to the Parterre, allowing guests the opportunity to explore on their own any areas of the park that they found particularly appealing. This tour offers a blend of history, architecture, and nature for an enjoyable experience.
