We enjoyed our guided tour at the palace. The palace was gorgeous, the tour informative, and the historical artifacts told a fun story of a bit of the personality had by the royals who lived in the palace. We visited in December and thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas decorations and nativity scene. My only tips - the tour is a little too fast paced. Stay at the front of the tour with the guide, otherwise it is very difficult to know what is happening. Generally the flow is great, but be ready to be treading through crowds and other tour groups. We enjoyed the information, but felt that the tour should've been slower paced, and the tour groups spaced out.

Great place to visit, there are free entry during last two work hours, but the lines then after crazy long. One of the most impressive palaces I ever visited. Was also lucky to visit the palace at the day off solemn guard change, that mostly happens on the first Wednesday off the month, but this time it was the second (can be moved because of weather or other stuff) and had a great view from the palace square, seeing all the guards and horses, that lasted for an hour.

Although we had purchased tickets we still had a 35min wait to get in. I don't think it makes any difference if you pre purchase. We did the self guided tour. The Palace itself is fabulous but at times it felt very overcrowded in some rooms. It's still worth a visit, I would definitely go back and do a guided tour next time.
