This workshop offers an unforgettable opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditional lacquer techniques developed by Hiroshi Sato. Hiroshi has spent years perfecting his craft, starting with Kyoto’s lacquer painting techniques and evolving them with unique wax color applications.
Through his teaching, participants will understand the profound significance of lacquerware and its integration into daily life, focusing on both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the craft.
Hiroshi, who inherited his skills from his predecessor Kiyoshi Sato, has received several prestigious awards, and his works have been presented as gifts at major events such as the G7 Summit.
This session will introduce the traditional lacquer craftsmanship used in Hiroshima Buddhist altars, followed by an exciting hands-on lacquer painting experience where you'll create your own piece of art.
