The Crystal Palace Tour offers a guided walking experience through the first quarter mile of the cave, providing visitors with an immersive introduction to the underground world. This section has been thoughtfully modified with lighting, pathways, steps, and handrails to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. During the tour, your guide will focus on education, explaining how caves form, sharing the history of the cave, and highlighting an impressive variety of formations. Guests will have the opportunity to see stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, and even rare shield and helictite formations, making the experience both informative and visually striking.
In addition to geological features, the tour also provides a chance to observe cave wildlife such as bats and salamanders, as well as ancient fossils that tell the story of the cave’s long history. Photography is encouraged, though visitors are expected to keep pace with the group to ensure everyone has a safe and smooth experience. For safety reasons, children three years of age or younger are not permitted on the tour, and all children must be able to walk independently, as they cannot be carried. This ensures that all guests can enjoy the tour comfortably while learning about the fascinating underground environment.

Crystal Palace Park was honestly boring. It was under construction and didn’t have much going on, which made it feel boring.

Nov 9, 2025: We can still walk around the perimeter of the park, despite the metal fencing surrounding all the areas under construction. The dinosaurs are covered up, awaiting refurbishment. Sunday had some market stalls with a good selection of food and drink, including delicious vegan baked goods from Arapina Bakery.

This huge Victorian park is beautiful in parts, but some sections are going through a badly needed redevelopment currently. I was particularly interested in the dinosaurs that have been here since 1852. These are a series of sculptures of dinosaurs and other extinct animals, but unfortunately some were covered over because of the renovation. I went for a run around this park on a Saturday morning, and it was very peaceful indeed, especially around the lakes. I was pleasantly surprised with the wildlife I spotted, and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw many rose-ringed parakeets flying around here wild. I didn't know it was a thing that these exotic birds had colonised London. There is plenty to do here for families such as boating, a maze, a skatepark, and a museum. The National Sports Centre is also here which looks like a top tier venue for athletics. This was built on the site of the old football ground where Crystal Palace F.C. used to play and FA Cup Finals were held in the early days. There is also a natural ampitheatre here, where music concerts used to be held. Bob Marley played his last concert in London here in 1980. The actual Crystal Palace, which was the largest glass structure around at the time, was destroyed in a big fire in 1936, I was sorry to learn. This park has a lot of history behind it and a lot of potential, so lets see how the redevelopment goes when it's completed in late 2026.

Please don't waste your time coming here until the reconstruction work is finished next summer! The main attractions like the dinosaurs were all being worked on, you couldn't walk near them and there was just fields and fields of mud and sludge everywhere and wouldn't be worth people making the journey to come and visit if you're visiting London. Luckily it was on our doorstep so when we visited it didn't matter. However, a lot of it felt rundown and dirty anyway with old dated graffiti and lifeless concrete. There's probably somw better options!

Went to walk the former F1 track but also enjoyed watching tricks at the skate park - with multiple bowls, got lost in the maze + enjoyed a coffee on the concert stage. Great place to spend a nice day.
