Experience the thrill of walking on New Zealands largest glacier, the Tasman Glacier, combined with a breathtaking scenic helicopter flight over the Southern Alps. This adventure offers spectacular views of Aoraki Mt Cook, New Zealands highest peak, as you are flown to a remote drop off point on the glacier. Once you arrive, you will be fully equipped with all necessary glacier exploring gear. In summer, guides provide crampons for walking safely on hard ice, while in winter, you can choose between crampons, snowshoes, or a combination of both. With your equipment fitted, you will follow your guide across the ice, exploring incredible ice formations and learning skills passed down from New Zealands mountain pioneers. Each step across the glacier reveals a unique and ever changing landscape shaped by nature.
The Tasman Glacier Heli Hike is a truly unique experience, as the glacier is constantly shifting and evolving. Guides are highly experienced and will always find something new and interesting to show visitors during the up to two hour exploration on the ice, weather permitting. After your glacier adventure, you will return to the base with another scenic helicopter flight, completing a journey filled with awe inspiring views and unforgettable memories. Trips require a minimum of three people, but smaller groups may be combined with others to ensure departure, making it accessible for most visitors seeking an extraordinary alpine adventure.
