This was our first excursion of the trip, and it was a great start. Riding in a completely clear boat was such a cool experience — you can see straight down to the ocean floor the entire time. The crew took us over sunken ships that have turned into reefs, and we even got a surprise detour to a wild starfish area. Seeing huge starfish in their natural habitat was awesome. The snorkeling was the highlight for me. Getting in the water and exploring at my own pace was relaxing and beautiful. There were plenty of fish and coral formations to check out, and some sunken structures that added to the atmosphere. I do wish we’d had more time snorkeling and maybe in an area with a bit more wildlife variety, but that’s just a personal preference. The whole thing was well-organized, safe, and not overpriced. The staff was great, the views were incredible, and it’s a perfect family-friendly excursion — especially for first-time snorkelers or kids who might be nervous about the ocean. Definitely worth it.
Had the opportunity to go on the Clear Boat tour while on a cruise with Royal Caribbean this month and we had a BLAST! The whole concept is pretty cool and the kids loved seeing the ocean floor, the sunken ships and the fishes. They were glued to the floor of the boat. Jose and captain Diego did an incredible job with the music, the history around what we were seeing and overall were very kind! They made sure we felt comfortable and safe at all times. Loved that they made sure we had fishes around for the kids to see and brought food to bring them close making the experience even better. Jose is a storyteller and overall, super funny! Loved every minute of the experience and would recommend to anyone! The only suggestion is to lengthen the time of the trip a bit of have another longer version where we can snorkel a bit longer. Definitely recommend. Our tour guides, Abel (the captain) and Adrian, were fantastic. Adrian’s tour was engaging, personable, informative, and genuinely funny. We booked this hoping to give our 5-year-old son a memorable reef experience since he’s too young to snorkel, and this was absolutely the way to go. The boat was very clear and the crew was very attentive, mopping it regularly to ensure a great experience for everyone. The snorkeling portion was enjoyable, though I’d say it’s more of a fun bonus than a top-tier snorkeling destination. If your main goal is to find Cozumel’s absolute best snorkeling, this may not fully satisfy that. But for a well-rounded, family-friendly outing, it hit the mark. The only slightly negative thing I could say was the experience with the woman who checked us in. Unlike our tour guides, she wasn’t particularly warm or welcoming. She also had a strict policy against applying any sunscreen, "reef-safe" or not, on the body, allowing it only on the face. We had bought an expensive certified reef-safe sunscreen (without harmful chemicals) specifically for this trip, hoping to protect our son’s fair skin from the intense June Cozumel sun. While I understand and respect the effort to preserve the marine environment, the lack of flexibility (especially with young kids) was a little frustrating. Overall, the tour itself was great, especially for families. Abel and Adrian were the highlight, and we’re glad we did it.
