Brook Sanctuary Guided Tours offer an immersive experience into the hidden valleys of Waimārama. Visitors are welcomed at the Visitor Centre by expert guides who share deep knowledge of the Sanctuary’s unique biodiversity. As you explore the trails, you may encounter native birdlife including tūī, bellbirds, and fantails, and learn about the remarkable kiwi pukupuku recently introduced to the area. The tour also covers the history of the Sanctuary, from its pre-European use for food and medicinal plants by local Māori, to the more recent European settlement and its impact on native flora and fauna. Every guided tour contributes directly to the ongoing conservation work of the Sanctuary. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the natural beauty and rich stories of the Sanctuary while being mindful of safety. Children under the age of fourteen must be accompanied by an adult on a one-to-one ratio, with family bookings welcome under specific group limits. The terrain is uneven and visibility may be limited, making the tour unsuitable for prams or wheelchairs. Tours are weather dependent, and guides prioritize safety at all times while ensuring an educational and memorable experience for everyone.
