Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Wanaka township along the stunning shores of Lake Wanaka, leading to the starting point of a guided walk through some of the region’s most beautiful landscapes. The trail begins with a steady uphill climb to Diamond Lake, where the serene waters reflect the surrounding mountains. As we continue, we enter the enchanting weeping forest and take a turn toward the light, arriving at the Wailing Wall where, during wetter months, delicate droplets cascade from the overhanging cliffs. From the viewing platform, you can admire Diamond Lake from above, a perfect spot for photography and quiet reflection amidst nature. The journey continues to the top of Rocky Mountain for those fit and experienced, or to the Lake Wanaka Viewing Point for breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Wanaka and the Matukituki River. Here, you can relax with a gourmet lunch and refreshments while soaking in the natural beauty. The return follows a different loop track around Diamond Lake, offering new perspectives of the forest and lake before returning to the starting point and heading back to Wanaka. Throughout the walk, experienced local guides provide insights into the area’s history, flora, and fauna, ensuring an enriching and memorable experience.
