Surf Ala Moana

Experience Oahu’s premier surf lessons at Ala Moana Beach Park, where you can learn to surf in a fun and supportive environment while avoiding the typical crowds near Waikiki. The lessons take place in warm, calm waters, giving you plenty of space to practice and improve your skills. With convenient round-trip transportation from Waikiki hotels, this surfing experience is both accessible and comfortable. Lessons are designed for all skill levels, providing guidance, encouragement, and personalized instruction to ensure a safe and enjoyable time on the waves.

For younger participants, one-hour private lessons are available for keiki, or children, aged three to eleven. These one-on-one sessions give children undivided attention from an experienced surf instructor, making it the safest and most effective way to learn to surf. Lessons begin with a land demonstration before moving to the ocean, and depending on the child’s ability and size, tandem surfing or surfing alongside the instructor may be used. The instructor remains with each student throughout the lesson to ensure safety and maximize learning. Participants should bring a swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen, while rashguards, reef shoes, and surfboard rentals are provided for free with the lesson.
