Through the Middle

From Christchurch, the journey unfolds through some of the South Island’s most iconic landscapes as we travel toward Aoraki Mt Cook and the wide open spaces of Omarama. Crossing the sweeping Lindis Pass, the scenery changes once again as we descend toward Tarras and the lakeside beauty of Wanaka. The adventure continues over the dramatic Crown Range Road, offering breathtaking alpine views before arriving in the vibrant town of Queenstown.

Over the following days, we slow the pace and immerse ourselves in Central Otago’s rich heritage, exploring Alexandra and the historic gold mining settlements of Ophir and St Bathans, where time seems to have stood still. Our return journey takes us north via Oamaru and Timaru, with a final appreciation of the striking landscapes of the Waitaki Valley before completing the loop back to Christchurch, rich in memories and unforgettable scenery.
