Our youngest daughter went on a few months' internship with Azores Experiences in Horta, Faial Island, in August. We left her there with Pedro and his crew at the end of our holiday in the beautiful Azores. Of course, we couldn't leave without taking a tour with them first. We had a wonderful day with a pod of female sperm whales with their young, who regularly displayed their impressive tails as they dived to the bottom. We also encountered playful bottlenose dolphins and a large pod of spotted dolphins. The briefing and explanation on the boat were excellent, both about the marine mammals we could encounter and how they found the sperm whales using the hydrophone. The trip gave us confidence in the professionalism and atmosphere of the company. And after a wonderful trip, we were able to continue our journey with a good feeling. Thanks to the crew for the trip and also for taking such good care of the interns!
Fantastic tour of the island with Hugo and Clara. We drove by the most iconic places of the island, the Caldeira, visited the Capelinhos interpretation center and the lighthouse. We had lunch in a superb location… Hugo & Clara were so friendly and caring and gave us a lot of explanation on the island, its history and its geology. Cannot say anything else than perfect. On top of that we enjoyed superb weather.
My wife and I went whale watching on May 23, 2025. This was the best experience on Faial. We talked to tourists who chose other companies for whale watching, and they, unfortunately, did not see even half of what we saw. Pedro, Marta and Tim tried very hard. And we saw turtles, dolphins, a blue whale and sperm whales. Pedro has some kind of instinct for these animals. Our boat was always the first in the place where a whale or sperm whale appeared.
