We had a great tour. We did the 9.15am tour of Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s on a Saturday. Everything was very efficient at the office on arrival. All staff were polite and helpful. We started on time. Our guide Tonia was fabulous. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Her english was excellent. We had earpieces so Tonia could speak to us on the move without raising her voice and these worked well. Tonia was great with my 85 year old mum who has reduced mobility and hearing. Due to Mum having to wear hearing aids she couldn’t use the headphones. Tonia was patient and kind and ensured mum was near her most of the time so she could hear what was being said. This was difficult in such a busy environment but Tonia managed this very well. We knew it was going to be super busy but we managed to have a good look at the fantastic Vatican museum galleries and about 20 minutes in the Sistine Chapel without feeling harassed. There is seating around the edge and mum managed to get a rest here. It is a bit tough for those with limited mobility as it’s about 3 hours on your feet with limited rest opportunities but Tonia enabled mum and another lady who was struggling a bit to get some sit downs along the way. Tonia was a very experienced guide. She herded us to spots where we could stand and listen to what she had to say without obstructing others and she sweet talked the guards in to a couple of short cuts available to tour groups but a bit dependent on the mood of the guards!! St Peter’s is apparently often closed on a Saturday in Jubilee year - but we were lucky and it happened to be open. It was super super busy due to Pilgrim groups attending - they get priority entry so we had to wait quite a bit. Tonia had us ready to move quickly when the opportunity arose! It was like a military operation!! 🤣 After the tour - if you still have energy (which we did not!) you can go back in to the Basilica to have another look and also go up the dome under (for an extra cost - not sure how much or what the queues were like). The experience was so much better than we’d expected reading general reviews of visiting the Vatican. I picked this tour because of good reviews for this company online and wasn’t disappointed. It was definitely worth every penny. Grazie mille!

Barbara was extremely knowledgeable about Vatican City, Rome’s history and art. She was fabulous. I highly recommend What A Life Tours.

Don’t go to the basilica without Barbara!!! Barbara was absolutely incredible! She was so knowledgable and really looked after us during the crazy busy period of the jubilee. She enabled us to skip the queues and not stand in the 30*c Italian heat, which I would highly recommend. So don’t go without Barbara!!

What a Life Tours is the best!! My husband pre-booked the tour to the Vatican and the “skip the line” service is a must. Our tour guide Ennio was fabulous—knowledgeable, informative and so much fun!! Given the crowds, he navigated us through alternate routes which were informative and fun. He is a delight and a real pro. A few people in our group asked him totally off script questions and he knew his information! Don’t miss this tour (Vatican, Sistine Chapel and the Basilica) and request Ennio!

We had a pre-booked tour of the Vatican Museum on Tuesday this week (the day after Pope Francis sadly passed). Barbara was a fantastic guide especially under difficult circumstances and big crowds there - we learnt a lot & would definitely recommend this company (and Barbara) for anyone wanting to visit the Vatican.
