Asked to move because they had a group of over 100 people waiting to come in, when I asked where should we move to they didn’t have any suggestions. When I challenged this with the manager, she claimed we were abusive and we should leave. So 100 new drinks are more valuable than the 3 people consistently buying drinks for hours. Really shows how this place has slipped over time to being part of an elaborate pub crawl trail that favours losing regular punters for a one-off boon. It’s sad that a place that has such potential is run by utterly short-sighted management. This particular manager handled the issue really poorly and resorted to bully tactics when simply offering a solution for their incompetence in allowing a 100+ person booking would inevitably mean people already in the bar would be forced to leave. It’s a tragic reality in Dublin today but the manner in which the staff and ultimately the “manager” handled this particular incident left a sour taste in our party’s mouth and to be honest, as a local, I’d find it difficult to ever return. If you’re part of a booking then this place may be good, but if a bigger group appears, you don’t matter. And the style of approach is so combative to suggest the customer is never right in matters of taste. Genuinely still reeling from this. And no amount of apology or contradiction of events following this review will be accepted by me - I’ve had so many amazing nights here and yet, unless I presumably offered to buy 101 more drinks in one go, our group were surplus to requirements. I guess this is what’s at the core of this place; accountants squeezing every possible euro from every punter at the sacrifice of medium to long term repeat business.

I had a great time at this pub on Saturday night. Great atmosphere and music. Kudos to the staff who acted quickly when someone broke a glass. They were very attentive to the safety of those enjoying themselves.

This is an incredibly racist bar that is not worth going to. I’ve actually been here before and enjoyed the music, but this latest experience has completely changed my perception of the place. When my friends and I (three American/British Indians) tried to enter, we were immediately stopped by the bouncer who simply said, “Not today, you’re not allowed in.” We were confused and tried to show our IDs, but were told they didn’t have to give us a reason. We then asked another bouncer, who also refused entry. When we requested to speak with the manager, she was extremely rude and dismissive. They claimed we were “too drunk,” even though we had just come from dinner and hadn’t been drinking. During this time, we saw them let in other people—who were all white—without asking for IDs or questioning their sobriety. When we pressed for clarity, the reasons kept changing: first we were “too drunk,” then “not dressed appropriately.” None of these made sense because we came from a dinner and dressed like everyone else. We later checked Google reviews and found many others had similar experiences, with complaints about racist treatment and aggressive staff. This was a deeply disappointing and racist experience. No customer should be treated differently based on the color of their skin. Even though I’ve previously enjoyed the music here, I will never return after this, and I would strongly caution others, especially people of colour, before going to this bar.
