Spend a full day fishing from the comfort of a motorized drift boat on Yellowstone’s iconic Lewis Lake. Guests can sight cast to rising trout, strip streamers through the depths, or work the water with a spin cast rod. Brown trout, cutthroat trout, and lake trout are commonly found, with a chance to catch trophy fish over 20 inches. Pickup is available from Jackson or Teton Village, or meeting at a convenient location for guests in outlying areas. Those staying inside Yellowstone National Park will meet at the Lewis Lake boat dock. The day begins with a scenic 1.5-hour drive through Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks to Lewis Lake, stopping for fishing licenses along the way if needed.
Lewis Lake consists of Lewis and Shoshone Lakes connected by a mile-long channel. Trips may include motoring on Lewis Lake, rowing up the channel, hiking further into Shoshone Lake, or wade fishing in the channel. Dry fly, streamer, and spin cast fishing are all possible. All native trout are released alive, while lake trout and occasionally brown trout may be kept. The trip includes a guide, necessary equipment, fly selection, rain ponchos, snacks, waters, and a picnic lunch. Guests should bring hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing for the day.
