This 3-hour food adventure begins with a visit to a Shinto shrine in Shinsekai, offering a glimpse into the spiritual side of Osaka. As you wander through the lively, historic district, you'll encounter the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower, a symbol of the area’s rich past. Explore the fascinating narrow alleyways, including one that’s only 1.2 meters wide, revealing hidden gems. Continuing to Dotonbori, the heart of Osaka’s vibrant street culture, you'll discover the legacy of Osaka as a merchant city, which was pivotal during the Edo period, particularly as a hub for the rice trade. This journey blends food, culture, and history seamlessly.

It was a wonderful experience. The best part was being able to join a small group guided by the amazing Mao, who, besides being a local Japanese guide, studied abroad and speaks English far better than I do. The group was small (just five people), which made it easy to fit into the cozy local restaurants she took us to. Her personal preferences and recommendations were fantastic, and we got to try lots of delicious and interesting dishes. The atmosphere was great too — it genuinely felt like a group of friends going out for dinner together. Mao was incredibly attentive and open with everyone. She even offered to help us with the following days of our trip, and showed and explained things we would definitely have missed if we hadn’t gone with her.

Tommy was an amazing host. He was very knowledgeable about all the food, locations and history of what we were eating. He made everyone in our group, who didn't all know each other, feel welcome and was great at encouraging conversation. Phenomenal food!Come hungry and do this this tour. It is a must! A highlight of Osaka for us!

I really enjoyed the Osaka Castle tour! Our guide Mao was wonderful — she took us around the castle grounds, inside the castle itself, and to the Wall Museum. She showed us many amazing and interesting facts and spoke with great enthusiasm. She also gave helpful recommendations on what else to see in the city and often offered to take photos of everyone. It was a very pleasant and fun experience!

Anyone who is going to visit Osaka Castle I recommend getting your tickets from this company because we purchased our tickets beforehand we were able to skip the line for people purchasing tickets at the castle for that day. It was a long line on a hot and humid day in early September. Repurchasing these tickets was a godsend. We walked right into the castle and enjoyed the sights and history of this beautiful Castle.

Utako gave s a really great experience - not only of Osaka Castle ut also the surrounding grounds and Japanese culture. We really enjoyed her humour throughout our time!
