Well! This is an 'off the beaten path' place. Mind-boggling in is immensity. The sheer opulence envisaged by the architects of that time is staggering. Unbelievable amounts of high grade marble still in its pristine glory. And the English Gardens at the rear of the palace are huge as well. Takes a full hour to walk to the rear boundry of the Gardens hence they have a few shuttle buses as well. Highly recommend...
Great experience at the Caserte. We went in low season (november) and the place had zero wait and was nicely space out. We went to Versailles before and this was as beautiful if not more, but the overall experience was much better (less crowded). Allocating a whole day is a must if you want to enjoy both the palace and the extensive gardens. They might be the highlight. A warning : Quite the walk to get to the english garden, and this section close early. So get there first and enjoy!
The Royal Palace of Caserta is truly breathtaking. Built in the 18th century for the Bourbon kings and designed by Luigi Vanvitelli, it was meant to rival Versailles and you can really feel it. The rooms are grand and elegant, the monumental staircase is stunning, and the huge gardens with fountains and long water basins are spectacular. The history behind it, from its royal origins to its UNESCO recognition, makes the visit even more meaningful. Absolutely worth seeing if you’re in Campania!!!
