Genealogy Appointment

The Cobh Heritage Centre offers a specialized Genealogical Family History Research Profile designed for anyone interested in exploring their Irish ancestry. This one-hour session provides a detailed, custom-made analysis of all relevant Irish records, even for those with no prior knowledge of genealogical research. Participants will receive answers to key questions such as which records pertain to their ancestors, how to access and use them, and where these records can be found. To maximize the results, the genealogist requires participants to provide as much information as possible about their family history, as the more details available, the more comprehensive the findings are likely to be.

The research system includes references across multiple categories, including placenames, census records, trade and local directories, occupational sources, newspaper indexes, wills, 1890 surname distributions, deeds, state records of births, marriages, and deaths, gravestone inscriptions, estate records and rent rolls, passenger lists, and libraries or repositories. This service is purely focused on genealogical research and does not include access to any of the heritage centre’s tours, but it provides a thorough foundation for anyone looking to trace their Irish roots with expert guidance.
