Our youth sailing program is thoughtfully designed to introduce young children to the excitement of sailing while building strong foundations in water safety and seamanship. Running Monday through Friday, the program maintains a low student to instructor ratio with a maximum of four children per instructor, ensuring personalized guidance and close supervision. Safety is always the top priority, and all participants must bring and wear their own USCG approved life jacket whenever they are on the dock or on the water. Children should also come prepared with water, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and comfortable shoes to stay protected and comfortable throughout the day.
During the program, children will learn essential water safety practices, basic keelboat sailing skills such as rigging, steering, and sail handling, and important seamanship principles that promote respect for the marine environment. With hands on learning at the core, young sailors gain confidence through active participation while exploring the scenic waters of St. Augustine. The program encourages a lifelong appreciation for the sea, guided by experienced and enthusiastic instructors in a safe and supportive setting. For families interested in ASA 101 certification, children must enroll for a minimum of four weeks, attend at least two sessions per week, and pass a written test, with certification preparation available at an additional weekly cost.
