Have you ever dreamed of walking through a true winter wonderland while enjoying the most spectacular views of Norway’s capital? Join us for a memorable winter hike above the Oslo Fjord, where snowy forests, panoramic viewpoints, and Norwegian traditions come together in one magical experience. The journey begins outside the Oslo Visitor Centre at Jernbanetorget, where we board the Frognerseteren metro line for a scenic ride through a winter landscape straight out of a postcard. Upon arrival at Frognerseteren, you’ll be greeted by your first stunning view over Oslo and the fjord—just a preview of what’s to come.
From there, we continue our hike through snow-covered forest trails, passing frozen ponds steeped in local folklore and guided by spikes and poles for comfort and stability. Our first stop is the charming Fuglemyrhytta, a traditional Norwegian cabin where you can relax, warm up, and learn about the important role these cabins play in Norwegian culture. The adventure then continues deeper into the forest toward the highlight of the tour—the summit of Vettakollen Mountain. From the top, enjoy breathtaking views overlooking the city of Oslo, the Oslo Fjord, and its surrounding landscape, while breathing in the crisp winter air and capturing unforgettable photos. Here, we take a well-earned break to learn more about the area and embrace the Norwegian concept of “hygge”, sharing a peaceful moment in good company. After soaking in the views, we descend to the metro station and return to Jernbanetorget, concluding an unforgettable winter experience. Please note: due to the Holmenkollen Ski Festival, tours on March 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10 will follow an alternative route to reach the Vettakollen summit.
