This tour offers a scenic and educational trip from Dingle Marina to the Great Blasket Island, part of Ireland’s only National Marine Park. Passengers travel on a fast ferry while enjoying views of Slea Head and the surrounding coastline. Along the way, guests may spot dolphins, whales, and seals while listening to the guide share insights about the history, folklore, and geology of Dingle Bay and the Great Blasket Island. The journey provides a combination of natural beauty and cultural education, making it an engaging experience for visitors of all ages.
Upon arrival, visitors can explore the 1100 acres of largely mountainous and unspoiled terrain. The island was evacuated in 1953 and was once home to famous Irish writers, including Peig Sayers. Guests can walk along the beaches, explore the abandoned village, and learn about the literary and cultural history of the island. Free guided tours of the old village ruins are provided by the OPW. Visitors are advised to wear good footwear as paths can be steep and unpaved and dress in weather appropriate clothing. The return ferry trip completes a full day of exploration, combining adventure, history, and stunning natural scenery on the beautiful Great Blasket Island.

I had a great time exploring Great Blasket Island, thanks to Blasket Island Ferries. Getting the ticket was super easy and then it was just down to the pier to catch the boat across. There was plenty of time to see the seals on the beach and have a wander round the island before heading back to the mainland. The path down to the pier is very steep and it was a choppy journey on the way back, but they weren't the ferry company's fault!

A magical day in Blasket Island thanks to Blasket Island Ferries and Sibéal. On June 10th, we received the wonderful news from Sibéal that the boat would be sailing the next day. We quite literally jumped for joy! This unexpected opportunity to visit the breathtaking Blasket Island was the perfect addition to our Dingle Way hike. The super friendly Sibéal welcomed us at the ticket office with a warm smile and provided us with insightful tips about what to explore on the island. Her enthousiasm was contagious and set the tone for the rest of our day. The boat ride itself was smooth and felt very safe, thanks tot the calm sea and the helpful skipper. Arriving on the island felt like stepping into another world - peaceful, mystical and rich with story. We were truly enchanted by it's quiet beauty and they stunning views all around. Visiting the Blasket Heritage Centre befor had given us a deep appreciation for the lives of the people who once called this island home. It allowed us to walk through the abandoned village with a sence of connection and respect for its former residents. Huge thanks and congratulations tot Blasket Island Ferries and they wonderful Sibéal for giving us such an unforgettable day. Go n-éirí an bóthar leat, agus go lonraí an ghrian go te ar d'aghaidh.

Wonderful experience! Sibéal was very helpful in answering my questions when we made the reservation (about lunch options coming in from the Dingle Way, weather, etc). Dunquin Pier is stellar and the views just get better as you travel out to Great Blasket Island. There are free interpretive historical tours of the village and nice hikes around the island. We were fortunate to see a minke whale and dolphins from the island's southeast side! The beach was teeming with grey seals, too. Highly recommended if you're walking the Dingle Way to stay an extra night in Dunquin to visit the island.

Wonderful day trip! Definitely well worth it, Sibéal & Jan are super helpful - the boat is fab, and it’s great to be able to have a good few hours on the island! They even pointed out some nice camping spots :-) OPW tour, walk round the island, and an hour of lazing on the sunny strand all done within the day :-) highly recommended!!
