The 9:45-3:30 tour turned out to be: 9:30-10:00 waiting to depart 10:50 arriving at tram station 11:10 arriving at Montserrat tram station 11:10-11:55 waiting, logistics, some wiki level intro to Montserrat 12:00-14:00 free time 14:00-14:20 visit the monastery 14:30-16:30 bus transportation back to meeting point The 5.75-hour tour, in short, had half of its time travelling. 2-hour free time is far from enough for flea market, lunch, souvenir shop, tram, hike to the cross, museum, and photo taking. The tour guides are always rushing, pushing and gourding us to move, but it’s not their fault. It’s the design of the whole itinerary that needs to be changed. 20 minutes allocated to monastery visit is nonsense. It would be a 1-star without the scenery and hard work from the tour guides. I’d recommend everyone to go on your own, driving or public transport. You go to Montserrat to relax, not to be rushed.
We had an amazing time with Castle Experience on the half-day tour to Montserrat and the winery for tapas and wine tasting. Our guide Judit absolutely made the day! She went above and beyond to look after us — super funny, full of personality, and such a little pocket rocket. 😂 She made sure my dietary restrictions were taken care of and was incredibly attentive about my seafood allergy, which I really appreciated. Her care and attention made the whole experience feel safe and effortless. On top of that, her wine knowledge was genuinely impressive (I didn’t expect that at all!). She was a joy to be around and you can tell she LOVES the job, she turned the tour into something truly memorable. Honestly, Judit deserves a raise — she made the experience exceptional. Highly recommend this tour and especially Judit as your guide!
Barcelona: Full-Day Montserrat & Wine Small Group Tour with Lunch Such a wonderful day no matter the weather! Barcelona was hit with storms but that didn’t change the amazing time we had. The bus was easy to find, comfortable and one of the guides gave great information every time we passed something notable. Once at Montserrat, the monastery tour was great, and for the full day tour, you get about 2 full hours to explore on your own which is perfect to explore the farmers market, go to the museum, walk to the cross, use the funicular, or whatever your heart desires! Once at the winery, lunch is served. We had a mixed vegetable soup with croutons + olive oil, chicken with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a yummy sauce, lastly a yummy dessert that i cant remember what it exactly was! You can have two glasses of wine with lunch. The wine tasting was lovely, then after you have time to have another glass at the wine bar. Thank you for an amazing tour Guilliam and Sofia! They were wonderful guides, both gave great information and are very personable.
