North Holland Cycling Tour Explores Dikes, Villages, and Waterways Beyond Amsterdam

This four-hour cycling tour offers a unique journey beyond Amsterdam into the beautiful and famous landscape of North Holland. The experience is typically conducted in a combination of Dutch and English. Within fifteen minutes of departure, participants leave the city and cycle through the iconic land of dikes and waterways under the guidance of a friendly local guide.

The group, limited to a maximum of 15 people, follows scenic bike paths through the heart of this region shaped by water. Cyclists ride not only along dikes but also across reclaimed land that lies up to five meters below sea level. Along the way, the guide explains how generations of ancestors continuously battled the water, a struggle that still continues in this region today.

A highlight of the tour is a pleasant break at a terrace where participants can relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside. The experience includes cycling through Ransdorp, whose church tower was once sketched by Rembrandt, as well as enjoying the typical North Holland countryside and crossing the IJ by ferry. A stop at a traditional Dutch café also allows participants to experience local culture.

The tour is designed to offer a more personal experience, with groups kept small at a maximum of 13 participants. Included in the experience are a friendly local guide, a bicycle for the ride, and a 25% discount on bike rental after the tour. Drinks are not included and are at the participants’ own expense.
