The Patios of Córdoba Tour takes you through one of the city’s most cherished traditions. As you walk through the Alcázar Viejo neighborhood, you will learn about the origins of Córdoba’s patios, step inside beautifully preserved homes, and discover how these shared courtyards became symbols of harmony, community, and creativity. Decorated with vibrant flowers and lush plants, each patio reflects centuries of history and the dedication of the families who have maintained them. This experience also introduces you to the famous Patios Festival held every May, a cultural celebration recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2012.
During the tour, you will visit several private houses located in the historic center, exploring courtyards that trace their architectural roots back to Roman times and later Islamic influences. Your specialist guide will share stories about the families who lived there, the evolution of these shared spaces during the industrial era, and the deep cultural meaning behind this local tradition. With included entry to five patios, an official guide, and a two-hour walk through the most emblematic spots, this tour begins at the OWAY Tours office in Plaza del Triunfo and offers a memorable immersion into one of Córdoba’s most captivating customs.

Felt a bit like a scam. They show you 4 patios for the price of 5,50€/person. You can see similar patios across the city for free. Plus there is one 'donativo' with a crazy owner. If you enter her patio and don't give her money she screams at you. Not a nice experience.
Sarah

They were free to visit and take pictures! But do give them tips!

The beautifully decorated patios of San Basilio neighbourhood of Cordoba was not something we had heard about. We went on a guided tour to this area, which was a lovely experience. Apparently, there is an annual competition of the patios in May and we were pleased to visit some former prize winners. The families were very welcoming and keen to explain about their proud exhibits, which were beautiful. We usually buy something or leave a little contribution as a token of their hard work. It was something which came as a pleasant surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wonderful and informative tour of Cordoba’s patios. Sergio was an excellent guide, answering questions from the group and filling time that we had to wait for other groups to leave the stops with informative talks about the neighborhood, the city, and the patio competitions each May. Even with the warm late summer weather in October the plants were a treat to see. I can only imagine how glorious they all look on springtime!!

Amazing walk, worth the money. Especially welcoming owners, open to discussing the gardens. The flowers are beautiful everywhere. Don't hesitate.

Very informative tour. Our tour was in English. There were many people who signed up for it but I still didn’t feel overcrowded.
Lindsey

Highly informative and well planned so as to miss lots of queues Also a good introduction to patios enabling g you to see the different types in the competition

I went in August which was nice but it would be better in spring when the flowers are all blooming. They only tended to be open in the morning time and it's a good idea to have a good amount of coins with you as entry is based on a donation. Some had much friendly owners than others and hearing the stories was interesting.
