Yelapa is a charming native village located along the south side of Banderas Bay, known for its natural beauty, simple lifestyle, and welcoming community. The village is accessible only by cobblestone footpaths and dirt trails, as there are no roads or cars, preserving its authentic atmosphere. Nestled at the base of the mountains, Yelapa features a long sandy beach about a quarter-mile wide and a seasonal mountain river with a picturesque waterfall. Visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture, encountering natives with their parrots and iguanas, enjoying artisan crafts, and sampling local treats such as homemade Yelapa Pie and Raicilla, a spirit similar to tequila.
Travelers can venture across Banderas Bay while keeping an eye out for marine life including dolphins, giant manta rays, sea turtles, whales (seasonal), and various marine birds. Snorkeling opportunities are available at secluded spots along the south shore, guided by expert instructors or explored independently. Within the village, guests can tour the Rosewood Artisans, visit the local church, and explore other local sights before swimming under the seasonal waterfall. The experience concludes with lunch at a beachside restaurant and leisure time on the beach. Small groups and personalized service make this tour an ideal way to explore and experience a unique part of Mexico.

Awesome ATV trip with Eddy. The quads were new and in great shape, the operating instructions were clear, and Eddy was an excellent guide/instructor.

We did the ATV trip to Chacala and had an awesome time!! Definitely wear old clothes & shoes that can get dirty. Yelapa Tours is family run and hires locals. ❤ That made for a really special experience. Thanks so much for the great day.

Had a great day of ATVs in Yelapa. End of the tour was great with a hike (pretty steep) up to the pools above the waterfall. Had been to Yelapa before for a few days and had never discovered that so that was an awesome experience. Would highly recommend.

Went on the ATV ride. Lots of fun! Had a good time going up the mountain. Definitely wear some old clothes because we got dirty!! Eddy is the man and showed us some cool local spots. Highly recommend

Hudo took us on the ATV tour and it was AWESOME! He was very fun to ride with. Highly recommend renting one ATV per person, it’s a thrill!! ATVs are brand new and have lots of power. You get VERY dusty, beware! (Don’t where white!) dust will get everyyyywhere. We stopped at the top in the village of Chacala and had some beers. Beautiful views both the way up and the way down. Afterwards Eddy took us on a steep hike to the top of the waterfall to jump in - it was breathtaking! He’s super personable and great to chat with. Very grateful for this experience!!
