Chinitna Bay, located on the west side of the Cook Inlet, is part of the stunning Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. The area is accessible only by a wheel-equipped aircraft, and your pilot and guide will take you on an approximately 1 and half hour scenic flight from Talkeetna down the coast to Chinitna Bay. Along the way, it is not uncommon to spot Alaska’s diverse wildlife, including moose, bears, seals, and even Beluga whales. The flight also passes three active volcanoes—Mount Spurr, Mount Redoubt, and Mount Iliamna—offering breathtaking views of Alaska’s rugged and dramatic landscape.
Upon arrival, the aircraft lands on a remote beach where the pilot carefully secures the plane above the high tide line. Your guide will then lead you along the beach to safely observe the bears in their natural habitat. During this guided walk, you may see bears in the meadows, along the shoreline, or during low tide digging for clams, providing an up-close and unforgettable wildlife experience. The combination of the scenic flight and guided bear viewing makes this excursion a truly remarkable adventure into Alaska’s wild coastal wilderness.
