The River Front campground is a peaceful retreat located at 1800 Arcadia Road in Buchanan Virginia. This site offers ten riverfront campsites along the scenic James River, providing both drive in and paddle in access for guests. The campground is designed for tent camping only and does not accommodate RVs or trailers. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and a level gravel area suitable for pitching tents. Guests can enjoy the river views, relax by the water, or explore the surrounding natural environment. The property also includes a group river access area, port a potties, and a dumpster for trash. As no water or utilities are available, visitors are required to bring their own drinking water and manage all personal trash responsibly. Access to the campground involves driving under a railroad bridge that limits vehicle length, so larger RVs cannot fit.
The location is about six river miles downstream from the Buchanan canoe livery and thirteen miles upstream from the Glasgow boat landing, making it an ideal stop for paddlers. The campground is set on a serene parcel of land just downstream from the Arcadia Virginia DGIF public boat landing, providing a quiet and natural experience. Guests should come prepared for a self-sufficient camping trip, bringing all necessary supplies including food, water, and camping gear. The combination of river access, peaceful surroundings, and convenient facilities makes this campground suitable for small groups, families, and paddlers seeking a relaxing overnight stay along the James River.
