Incredible! Must see when visiting the region. There are two sections - would advise checking if the outdoor section is open before visting. The information and set up shares ancient wisdom on living in harmony with the natural environment and how people have lived of the land for many thousands of years. The trip shared important information on the cultural significance of the area and cultural practices of the Saami people. Some people may find the unique and very specific trapping techniques for particular animals very interesting. There is a large outdoor ice theatre with seating and a projecton surface which is very cool! Im not sure how this is used but would be a very unique experience. There is a restaurant within the Centre which had a buffet lunch for €16.90 which was reasonable for the area. For the coffee lovers, it was the first grinding sound ive heard since leaving Helsinki... my wife had two cups!!
Wonderful museum with a lot of history. Buying tickets in advance isn't necessary, and the general admissions fee is only €18. I recommend stopping by if your visiting Inari!
The Siida Sámi Museum is a beautifully done museum and a must-visit while in Lapland. The exhibits are clear, engaging, and give a really meaningful look into Sámi culture, history, and daily life. We especially enjoyed learning about reindeer herding, traditional clothing, and the strong connection to nature. Overall, it’s an informative and memorable stop that adds so much context to the region.
