Despite this stunning medieval tower being massive it’s pretty easy to miss. Staggering views from the top for a reasonable entry fee. The oak trees at the top are a novelty and I’m now an advocate for all tall buildings to house trees! The views are breathtaking on a sunny day. We didn’t book in advance and there was no queue during the week.
This tower is a must-visit in Lucca. Lucca is a tiny medieval town. It is super cute. We stopped by this place after visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We used Apple Maps or Google Maps. It is a very small place and hard to find. I found the tower by looking it up. Otherwise, we almost missed it. There is a small fee to enter the tower. I am afraid of heights, but I managed to climb the stairs. The view from the tower is impressive. We get to see a panoramic view of Lucca.
Guinigi Tower (Torre Guinigi) is one of the most unique and memorable landmarks in Lucca. Its main highlight is the rooftop garden with real trees growing at the top, offering beautiful panoramic views over the historic city and surrounding area. The climb up the narrow staircase takes some effort, but it’s absolutely worth it. A must-visit place to truly feel the spirit of medieval Italy. Entrance fee: 8 euros
