Not wanting to join the guided tour, I spent some time designing my own itinerary to Segovia. Feel free to take a look at my itinerary for reference. I hope it can assist those who are now considering a self-curated day tour to Segovia 😉👍 I arranged the visit to Alcázar de Segovia (Castle) at 14:30. I visited the palace and the museum. I also booked Tower of John II at 15:30. Remember to buy the tickets online in advance. Before my visit to Alcázar de Segovia, I started my day with Hot-Air Balloon Ride over Segovia. I booked Aerotours, a ballon ride tour agency via Viator. The best thing is I could take advantage of their free ride included in the tour. After the hot-air ballon ride, I passed by Segovia Aqueduct (Landmark Monuments) for around 30 minutes and walked around Segovia Cathedral (Catholic Cathedral) for an hour. I booked these via GetYourGuide. I had a lovely lunch at Restaurante José María serving Traditional Segovian cuisine before starting my visit here. It was a packed but fun-filled day! Gorgeous! The Alcázar is located almost at the end of the city so the views from there are just amazing. Highly recommended to buy a ticket in advance. A perfect day trip from Madrid to see Segovia and it's many secrets.
The castle of Segovia is an incredible place. Its position allows a perfect view of the surrounding fields, and the pointy towers, along with its location, make it feel like a castle from a Disney fairy tale. The different areas are perfectly preserved; the coffered ceilings are gorgeous, and all the different medieval decorations are still perfect. There are many different weapons, armors, and minerals showcased around the castle, showing the military heritage of this place. It's definitely worth visiting while in Segovia.
