Vesuvius National Park is an unforgettable experience. The hike is fairly easy, and the views over Naples are stunning. Standing at the crater feels surreal, and the guides add great insight into the volcano’s history. A must-visit if you're in the area!

Worth the extra trip if you are visiting pompeii ruins. I went during low season so I cannot compare it during the summer. If you are taking the Gran Cono Trail. Buy your tickets online with your parking ticket. It is paid parking in one area and limited on space. Once you get to the parking area there is a shuttle to take you to the starting point of the trail. The price for the shuttle is 6 euros for round-trip or you can walk to the top. Give yourself plenty of time from the parking lot, shuttle, then entrance to the trail. Be prepared to wait on the a shuttle they are packed and there is a line waiting. Thankfully, they did not keep a strict schedule for the tickets. Probably because of the slow season. I got to the parking area an hour early but still got to the entrance 30 minutes late. Overall, it was a very easy walk up with beautiful views. Give yourself plenty of time.

The hike up is fairly easy, unless you're really unfit. The views from the top are just spectacular, but only if you have luck of having a clear day like I did. The next day it rained and I'm sure the experience must have been much different. The online tickets were always sold out for almost a month so I had to resort buying it through Vesuvio Express, of course, much more expensive than the official 11€, but for 30€ the bus up and down and the entrance ticket, it's not that bad I suppose.

If you are in the Bay of Naples area the National Park of Vesuvius is a must visit. Tickets are required to walk to the top from the drop off point, pre-booking is recommended. It takes approx 45 - 60 mins to reach the top on a path of medium incline. There are view points on the way to catch that breath and admire the surrounding area. As you reach the summit you get to see into the crater and witness the sulphur and gasses escaping.....she is very much active. There are a number of tourist market stalls on the way selling T-Shirts and trinkets. At the summit there is a small cafe selling refreshments and space to sit and enjoy the views. The decent takes approx. 25 - 30 mins.

Another truly amazing site to visit. The walk up can be a little strained but is so worth it. After entering and starting the climb, there are 3 little shops along the way. There prices are quite reasonable. When you reach the crater you have an ocean view on the opposite side. Absolutely incredible and I'm so glad I visited here.
