This seven-hour all-inclusive day tour begins with pickup at Lyttleton Harbour. Your journey to the Springfield Adventure Park involves a coach drive through Christchurch, allowing you to observe the extensive rebuilding efforts following the 2011 and 2012 earthquakes. Upon arrival, the tour features a longer-than-usual Canyon Safari, boating upstream through the Waimakariri River canyon. During this experience, you will enjoy a cheese platter while learning about Bill Hamilton, the Kiwi inventor who pioneered the jet boat. The park proudly displays Bill Hamilton's last personal jet boat, highlighting the area's significance in the invention's development, which largely took place opposite the park on Woodstock Beach.
The lunch provided is a Gourmet Burger lunch featuring a homemade beef patty or a vegetarian option, served on a warm ciabatta bun with a selection of relishes and salads. This meal is preceded by an extensive cheese platter and concluded with a trio of sweet treats, along with coffee, tea, and cold drinks. After lunch, guests can take a short, easy 5 to 10 minute stroll on a native bush walk. This walk features informative signs, one of Canterbury's oldest Matai trees, and large black beech trees used by bees for Honeydew production. It is also home to native birds like the fantail and Bellbird. Before the coach returns you across the Canterbury Plains to your ship, you'll have the opportunity to feed the park's pet merino lamb and its companions, PJ Peggy, Little Guy, and Lucky.
