This guided walk takes you on a delightful journey through the scenic Tamar Valley, exploring riverside paths, woodland, low hills, and charming villages. Following part of the newly established Tamar Way long-distance trail on the Devon side of the river, the route meanders along countryside footpaths, made-up tracks, and minor roads. Along the way, participants will enjoy beautiful riverside views, glimpses of grand houses, mining history, and a tidal crossing of the Tavy. The walk finishes in Tamerton Foliot, offering an opportunity to relax with an optional tea or lunch stop before continuing your day. The friendly guiding style encourages questions and interaction, ensuring an engaging and informative experience for all. The route is moderate in difficulty with some sloping paths, making it accessible to most walkers. The walk starts at Bere Ferrers Railway Station, with public parking limited, so arriving by train is recommended. The tour accommodates small groups and runs even if there is only one participant. Trains from Plymouth provide easy access to the start, and a frequent bus service connects Tamerton Foliot back to Plymouth. Participants are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear for rugged terrain and bring water, a camera, and a rucksack for their belongings.
