The West Coast Discovery Tour takes you on a scenic journey to some of New Zealand’s most iconic natural landscapes. After being picked up from Auckland CBD, you’ll drive through the lush Waitakere Ranges, stopping first at the Arataki Visitor Centre. Here, you’ll learn about New Zealand’s native flora and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding ranges, providing the perfect introduction to the west coast. The tour then continues to Karekare Waterfalls, where a short 5-minute stroll brings you to the base of the falls—an ideal spot for photos and to soak in the natural beauty of the area.
Next, you’ll visit the famous Piha Surf Beach, renowned for its striking black iron sand and powerful Tasman Sea waves. Here, you can relax, take in the scenery, or walk up Lion Rock for breathtaking views and memorable photo opportunities. The tour concludes with a drive back to Auckland CBD, taking in the stunning coastal vistas along the way. Due to cyclone damage in February 2023, some venues are temporarily closed, but the updated itinerary ensures you still experience the highlights: Piha Beach and Lion Rock, Karekare Waterfalls, and the Arataki Visitor Centre with its panoramic views of the Waitakere Ranges.

Tu Meke! I can’t rave enough about Twin Coast Discovery Tours! Everything a person could ever want and more, they provide! I personally had the privilege to go on this amazing tour of the North Island of New Zealand, and was blown away by everything I saw. The country was absolutely stunning with beautiful stretches of white beaches and crystal-clear water. Also, I found the Kiwis to be very kind and generous people. Everyone was excited to meet me and made me feel welcome. The culture and unique locations shown on the tour were very fascinating with Cape Reinga being my personal favorite.
