Guided Wildlife Tour Explores the Natural Wonders of Savannah National Wildlife Refuge

Nature enthusiasts can experience the diverse habitats of the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge on a guided driving tour led by experienced naturalists. Traveling along the scenic Wildlife Drive, participants explore one of the region’s most important protected ecosystems while searching for a variety of birds, reptiles, and other native wildlife in their natural surroundings.

The tour is conducted in a comfortable passenger van, allowing guests to travel together while reducing vehicle traffic within the refuge. Throughout the journey, knowledgeable guides share insights into the area's wetlands, forests, and wildlife, offering a deeper understanding of the ecological importance of the refuge and the conservation efforts that help preserve it.

Designed for families, birdwatchers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike, the experience includes occasional stops where participants can step outside the vehicle for closer observation of wildlife and the surrounding landscapes. Guests are encouraged to dress warmly and wear comfortable footwear to make the most of these opportunities.

Binoculars and spotting scopes are provided to enhance wildlife viewing, although visitors are welcome to bring their own equipment. Hot beverages are also available during the excursion, adding a touch of comfort to a leisurely tour that combines education, conservation, and memorable encounters with the natural beauty of the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge.

Super fun and well maintained area. Spotted quite a few alligators sunbathing along edge of the waters. For aviator lovers, this is your bird hot spot, we saw tons of unique and beautiful birds in the trees amd in the waters. Great wildlife environment and happy to have spent the day with my family exploring the area.

Just a beautiful drive on a 65-degree day in October 2025. Nature trails, beautiful scenery, alligators, plenty of birds. I spent about 2 hours 45 minutes driving through, with plenty of places to pull over and a couple of small walks.

Amazing. Even first week of November we saw five crocodiles… you have to walk or drive at three KM per hour and look out for them on the banks or swimming. We went between 10 and 11 o’clock when it was hot enough for them to sunbathe… also amazing for birds!
