We had the BEST time with Kaimana Ocean Safari! I did a ton of research deciding between the larger boats and this one and am SO thankful we chose this! The crew was amazing- very knowledgeable and great at keeping us safe. They provided us a once in a lifetime opportunity to swim near a deceased whale where we got to watch together sharks feed. They made sure to have only 2 guests in the water with 2 safety divers during this encounter. We also saw spinner dolphins from the boat and a humpback!

Kaimana Ocean Safari has become my favorite outfitter to tour with on Big Island. Just great people across the board, last year me had to cancel our trip last minute due to a family health emergency and they were kind enough to refund the entire excursion. This year we wanted to make sure we got out with them. The first attempt, we had some gnarly weather off shore and had to turn around, which was probably for the best. We rebooked a whale tour and man, what a whale watch it was. Immediately out of harbor we came across a pod of Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins. As we watched them we noticed a whale, but wasn’t just one, it was a very new baby and mama pair. We watched them for a few minutes before continuing on. The next whale we encountered was on a mission bee lining it south, entirely at the surface. Was interesting to say the least. Then we came across a competition pod of humpbacks, 3 or 4, we all thought maybe 4 from the surface, I was actually able to get some underwater video but only saw three underwater… still could have been one or two more as they were just barely within view of the camera underwater. Awesome action at the surface for probably over an hour. On the way back we saw a hammerhead shark, more whales and a huge pod of spinner dolphins that gave us an aerial show for the sendoff. Amazing time, Kayleigh, Cam and Elizabeth are all tremendous people, super knowledgeable, engaging, and friendly. Cant wait to book with them again!

Amazing time. With Kaimana it did not feel like we were tourists being ferried around to exploit the wildlife. The entire crew were there sharing their love of the ocean. We were able to see humpback whales (four breeched the water around us!!!), snorkel near pilot whales, and encounter oceanic white tip sharks by the whales. Trip of a lifetime. The crew really set themselves apart from other operators we've been with. I'd do a tour with them again!

Had a wonderful morning on the water for an ocean safari where we got to encounter pilot whales, an oceanic white tip reef shark, manta rays & an eagle ray! Very ethical in regards to wildlife encounters, keeping the boat a good distance away and letting wildlife approach as they choose. Prepared guests well to ensure safety in the water with various wildlife. Overall, amazing experience.

This trip was one of the highlights of my time in Hawaii. We had some incredible encounters, and the crew struck the perfect balance between giving us an unforgettable experience and being genuinely respectful of the marine life. They were clearly experienced, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel safe and comfortable in the water. Everything was well organized, and the small group size made it feel personal without being crowded. If you’re looking for a thoughtful, responsible way to experience the ocean, I highly recommend it.

The team Scott, Trevor and Diego were amazing on point. It was the best snorkeling tour ever. We saw an amazing reef with tons of fish. We swam with Pilot Whales and Ocean Reef White Tip Sharks. They were also incredibly accommodating for my mother in law at 80 years old snorkling. We will definitely refer them and use them in the future.
