As an " out of hand" uranium collector, I always have a 395 UV torch to hand. Uranium glows a lovely bright colour. Whilst browsing I saw a green jug labelled " Rare Uranium Jug" so of course I checked it. Absolutely no glow whatsoever. So I'm thinking that they've either used the wrong UV torch (365 and picked up on manganese) or have just labelled it Uranium to try and sell it 🤷♀️ Bit of a shame considering there are a lot of tourists who might not be able to check and buy it on good faith. They would be very disappointed when they got home.
We intended to have a coffee but the shop smelt rather damp and musty on entering so just looked around the 'antiques'. Not a huge amount to see but it was OK.
I bought a vintage ironstone plate by Masons. The price was right and the plate is good quality with no chips or cracks. I would have given this place a 5-star review, if not for the saleswoman. I casually mentioned to her that having bubble wrap handy would be nice, because that would bring more business from their international visitors. This comment rubbed her the wrong way. She rudely escorted me out the door, and locked up behind with some irritated gesturing and commentary. Strange place.
