The GPT Huts Walk is a 3-day, 2-night journey through the Northern Grampians, offering a unique way to experience the Mount Difficult range while enjoying comfortable accommodations. Unlike traditional camping, this program uses on-trail signature hiker huts with 4-bed capacity, providing protection from the elements, comfortable mattresses, and organized spaces for personal gear. Hikers will begin their journey at the Gar Trailhead in Roses Gap, passing seasonal waterfalls, reaching high vantage points with panoramic views, and ending in Halls Gap. Each night, participants will stay in a hut, enjoy freshly cooked meals, and relax under a blanket of stars while having a comfortable bed to sleep in. The program is designed for all levels of hiking experience, with knowledgeable local guides providing support and guidance throughout the journey.
Over the three days, hikers will follow a structured itinerary: Day 1 involves a briefing at the Hiker HUB in Halls Gap, a transfer to the Gar Trailhead, and hiking to Gar Signature Hiker Camp. Day 2 continues from Gar to Werdug Signature Hiker Camp, and Day 3 concludes the journey from Werdug back to Halls Gap, finishing with a celebratory drink at a local brewery. While the program provides group equipment, meals, transfers, and safety support, participants must carry personal clothing and a sleeping bag (6–10 kg). Meals in towns, pre- and post-hike accommodation, and personal equipment are not included, and personal medical and evacuation insurance is strongly recommended.
