Southern Expedition Showcases the Wild Beauty of the Grampians Peaks Trail

The Southern Expedition offers a five-day, four-night guided adventure through the spectacular southern section of the Grampians Peaks Trail. Beginning at Jimmy Creek Trailhead and finishing in Dunkeld, the journey leads hikers across some of the region’s most remote and scenic landscapes while providing a rewarding multi-day wilderness experience.

The expedition takes participants through rugged mountain terrain, ancient forests, wetlands, and expansive grasslands before ascending the impressive Serra Range. Along the route, hikers summit iconic peaks including Signal Peak, Mount Abrupt, and Mount Sturgeon, where sweeping panoramic views highlight the dramatic beauty of the Grampians National Park.

Each evening, hikers stay at supported campsites, enjoy freshly prepared meals, and experience the tranquility of sleeping beneath the stars. Experienced local guides lead the expedition throughout the journey, providing logistical support and sharing knowledge about the region’s natural environment, geology, and Indigenous cultural heritage. While group equipment and trail meals are included, participants carry their own clothing, sleeping gear, and personal essentials.

The adventure concludes with the final descent into Dunkeld, marking the completion of the Southern Stage of the Grampians Peaks Trail. After celebrating the achievement with a well-earned lunch, hikers are transferred back to Halls Gap, completing an unforgettable expedition that combines physical challenge, breathtaking scenery, and immersive outdoor exploration.
