Efoil surfing offers an exciting step up from river sessions, giving you the chance to take your foiling skills into the waves. After completing at least one introductory lesson in calm water, you’ll be ready to explore ocean conditions with confidence. With guided support, you’ll find that riding waves on an efoil is easier than expected, allowing you to experience both planing on the surface and foiling above the wave. For those who prefer unpowered foiling, the session can also focus on SUP surf foiling or prone surf foiling, going straight into wave riding if you already have the fundamentals.
Once in the water, you’ll learn how to navigate safely around other surfers, choose suitable waves, and adjust for the unique lift and dead zones created by wave energy. The focus is on knowing when to apply or reduce power, how to ride the crest smoothly, and how to transition into unpowered foiling as the wave carries you. Beginners will first work on surface riding and planing before progressing to flight, while intermediate riders refine their footwork, turning confidence and ocean takeoff timing.
