I really like this gym and have been going daily for several months. I pay full price for access to the sauna, steam room, pool, and workout facilities, and overall the gym is well-equipped and well-maintained. The recent updates and repairs to the saunas and steam rooms have made a big difference, and the staff are always very nice and make you feel welcome. One important note: the sauna is clothing-optional, even though this isn’t stated anywhere. It’s worth knowing before committing to a sauna package, as it may not suit everyone’s comfort level. Overall, the gym offers great facilities and a friendly atmosphere, and I would recommend it.
The studio it self is small but nice. You have all kind of machines and weights. The trainers are super friendly and always around to help. The only thing that I can't recommend is going to the the sauna when you are a female and without a boyfriend or husband. Every time I went to the sauna with my dad it was fine, the moment I go alone the man in the sauna just don't respect your personal space. They sit very close to you, touching skin to skin. Even though there is enough space and also another sauna to use. No, they have to sit right next to you. stare at you, like they never saw a woman before. Couple weeks ago, I was taking a shower, and a guy decided to join me, literally touching my body. I reported it to the reception, but still I cried one hour after that. Today, again, I tried to go to the sauna after some weeks of avoiding it. And two men came super close to me, touched my skin, and didn't respect my personal space at all! This is absolutely unacceptable! You have two saunas down there..I would suggest you split them in to genders. Because as a woman I don't feel comfortable nor safe to use the sauna without being accompanied by a man. Again this is unacceptable. I am paying monthly like every one else to use the space. But it's impossible..unless you want to be touched by old and sweaty men. I am really disappointed. And after this day I definitely won't use the sauna again!
Came here for just one day but it's a very good gym! Lots of brand new technogym equipment reminded me of my home gym. They even have a oldskool sitting calf raise machine, that was a new one for me haha. There is a friendly coach walking and supporting the sporters which was a nice experience to see as it's all about perfect form! 12.50 for a day pass (pool, wellness, towel, included)
Where else could you find a gym with an invincible sea view? This gym is fully equipped and offers many fun classes. I actually won a T shirt after a body combat class. The staff and coaches are all very friendly.
What a surprise Galo Active is! Really nice gym with a load of new and great equipment. We were put on to a site called Gym Nomad and we were able to book a membership for our visit to Madeira which made life super simple. We spent hours at Galo Active from cardio to the sauna and then an awesome meal. Highly recommend this spot when visiting Madeira!
