This full day experience introduces you to the rich traditions and landscapes that shape Madeira wine. The journey begins on the northwest coast in the charming village of Sao Vicente where the vineyards are framed by dramatic terrain and a unique microclimate. Here you explore the connection between the soil, the grape varieties and the cultivation process, gaining a deeper understanding of how the essence of Madeira wine is created. A guided visit to the vineyard is followed by a tasting of white, red and rose wines enjoyed with sweeping views that make the moment unforgettable.

The adventure continues on the southwest coast in the sunny village of Calheta where a historic wine hotel welcomes you with the warmth of Madeiran hospitality. A three course lunch highlights local gastronomy and is paired with Madeira wine as an aperitif and local rum as a digestive. The day concludes in a peaceful rural estate in Funchal where lush gardens and historic vineyards set the scene for another engaging tasting. This final experience offers insight into both contemporary winemakers and the legacy of families who have crafted fortified wine for generations, rounding out a journey that celebrates the heritage and flavor of Madeira.

It was closed when we got there despite the gates being open. It appeared as though many vines had been removed, just a small area was still being cultivated. A shame really.

This little museum with small vineyard attached near Santana. The tour only lasted for about 5-10 min as the tour guide had limited English. At the end of the tour you are offered a glass of Maderia wine and a few biscuits which is fine for the 3 Euro entrance fee. But the cost of bottle of wine (15 Euros for Miles brand) and the cookies (3.50 Euro) was about double what you would pay at the supermarket for the exact same items. I felt ripped off when I discovered this.

If it looks closed, just pop round the back to the house and someone will come out. Artifacts of local wine making and a knowledgeable guide but with a tricky accent. Entrance 3€ for a look, a sip and (homemade!) bite - such good value, allow an hour of your time!

Great tour, the guide was prepared and explained with details the original processes and the machines and was able to answer all our questions. The tour ended with a superb tasting of Madeira wine (of our choice) accompanied with 5 types of traditional cookies. Amazing! And all of that for just 2.5€!! Totally recommend it!

Very small, actually only one room with old tools and baskets. 2.5 eur for a visit and a try of a fortified wine.
